I was pleased to join Paul Bristow MP, my neighbouring parliamentary colleague in Peterborough on a number of visits to places of interest and employment for many who live within my constituency.
Our first visit took place at the University Centre Peterborough which is run and operated by the Inspire Education Group which includes Stamford College, it was really interesting to hear of the joint work across the group and how students from Stamford have access to further training and opportunities to undertake degree level courses in Peterborough. I was also interested to learn of the future plans for Stamford College with the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Group, Rachel Nicholls on our visit.
Our second visit was to Dalton Seeds where we were also joined by the Downing Street Chief of Staff, Steve Barclay MP. Dalton Seeds are an important supplier to many farms across both my constituency and the wider local agricultural economy. Dalton Seeds recently celebrated their 70th anniversary since formation and have invested in the very latest technology to ensure the seed they sell are of the very highest quality.
The final visit, was to Flag Fen, where numerous schools visit every year to see the bronze age history from over 3000 years ago, ranging from the reconstructed prehistoric landscape and treasurers which have been found locally. They also benefitted from £195,000 of cultural recovery funding from the Government to further enhance the visitor experiences to this historic site visited by people around the world.
It is really important to me that I continue to work alongside my neighbouring colleagues, to support growth and opportunity across our joint areas.
