The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue service is made up of some of the bravest and most dedicated people in our community employing over 600 firefighters and staff with around 250 full time firefighters in its 38 fire stations across the County.
Bourne has had its won fire service since the 1890s, though the days of the horse-drawn pump cart are now long gone. Today, the town and its neighbouring villages are provided with 24/7 service from a team of fifteen on-call firefighters. On-call staff combine their fire and rescue role with a day job and must be ready to respond to a call at a moment's notice.
During his visit to Bourne's Fire Station, Gareth was able to meet the team and learn about their work, and even got the chance to cut open a car!
