This morning, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published a report following an onsite inspection of Lakeside Healthcare in Stamford on 8th June 2021.
The report has found Lakeside’s operation of primary care services to be inadequate in four out of five key areas of assessment. Due to the seriousness of these findings the practices have been placed in special measures, meaning that they are subject to another inspection within the next six months. If insufficient improvements are not made within this timeframe the CQC will move to cancel or vary the terms of Lakeside’s registration. These are the strongest possible enforcement measures available at present.
In response, Stamford MP, Gareth Davies has coordinated with his neighbouring parliamentary colleagues, Tom Pursglove MP - Member of Parliament for Corby, Shailesh Vara MP - Member of Parliament for North West Cambridgeshire and Alicia Kearns MP - Member of Parliament for Rutland and Melton, to send one clear statement that they expect significant change as a result of this report.
In their statement today they said:
“The report published today by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) is further disappointing news for those of our local constituents who use Lakeside healthcare services in Stamford. Following this news, we have immediately written to the Chief Executive of the NHS Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), who has full responsibility for the provision of primary health care in Stamford, to express significant concern on behalf of local patients and to make clear that we expect significant change as a result of these findings.
This report clearly shows that there are serious issues with how primary care is administered, and we join our constituents in their disappointment and concern. We will continue to do everything we can to ensure those responsible are held to account.”
While as MP, Gareth does not have any operational control over the provision of healthcare in Stamford, he is working extremely hard to represent the views of constituents and to hold those responsible to account.
