Today, Historic England has announced that over 60 High Streets across England will receive substantial grants to create community-based cultural events on their high streets over the next three years. Grantham is one of ten towns in the Midlands to benefit, receiving £90,000 from Historic England in partnership with Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The first scheduled event is a ‘High Street Sound Walk’, curated by local artist Sandra Kazlauskaite to incorporate aspects of Grantham’s history, archival material, and residents’ own stories to chart the transformation of Grantham high street. The event will aim to draw the audience back into the past and appreciate the local heritage around them.

I am delighted that local artists will get the opportunity to celebrate Grantham’s history and draw people back into the centre of our town.
