The Prime Minister has done the right thing. Our party won a serious electoral mandate from the British people in 2019, and the Government has achieved some extraordinary things since – from freeing the nation from the political deadlock over Brexit, to leading and supporting the country through the immense challenges of the pandemic and the huge successes of the vaccine programme. The Government’s leadership in supporting the people of Ukraine has been an example to the entire world, and the Prime Minister’s commitment to them will not be forgotten.
Yesterday, with regret, I took the decision to resign as a PPS at the Department of Health and Social Care. I now look to our future leadership to unite us, in view of the serious trials that lie ahead for the country. I hope to support a Prime Minister who will pursue a conservative economic agenda; who will continue the Government’s vital support of Eastern Europe in the face of Putin’s aggression; and who will fervently seize every opportunity Brexit has presented to us at this critical moment.
My constituents in Grantham and Stamford have been, and always will be, the subject of my ultimate focus and commitment, and I look forward to continuing my efforts to serve them and our area.
