Gareth Davies MP has welcomed the introduction of the new ‘Kickstart Scheme’ which will see a £2 billion fund set aside to help create hundreds of thousands of high quality work placements, aimed at those aged 16-24, who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long term unemployment.
The scheme, which starts today, will make funding available to cover 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.
Any organisation of any size can apply for this funding so long as they meet the criteria and that they are supporting new jobs. To check to see if your organisation is eligible for the scheme, you can log onto the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-you-can-apply-for-a-grant-through-the-kickstart-scheme
Commenting on the scheme, Gareth said:
“As our focus moves to restarting and supporting our economy, we must do all we can to help firms to create and retain jobs. This Kickstart Scheme will be a massive boost for businesses and will help get many young people into stable employment. The Government is absolutely committed to getting our economy moving again and I very much welcome this scheme.”
