The Prime Minister has today published the Integrated Review, the most comprehensive articulation of a foreign policy and national security from a British Government in decades - it sets out a vision for a stronger, more secure, and more prosperous UK. As we strike out into the world as Global Britain – we need an international policy that does not rely solely on an outdated international system to protect our country’s interests and promote our values.
This review sets out a new foreign policy approach, amplified by record spending on both defence and science, to engage with and support the rest of the world. Alongside our allies and using all the new tools at our disposal, we will ensure we can face the threats of the future head on and that the UK is match-fit for a more competitive world.
Local MP Gareth Davies welcomed the review and particularly the provisions on strengthening our Defence, he said:
"Backing our nation’s defence with the largest investment since the Cold War, the increased funding of £16.5 billion over four years will make sure our nation’s defence is ready and able to adapt and defend against the ever changing range of threats our country faces – ensuring we have the tools and skills to keep our nation safe and prospering."
