Gareth Davies MP has warmly welcomed the Government’s new announcement of Pharmacy First as part of the Primary Care Recovery Plan to cut waiting lists. Pharmacy First will mean that from today, pharmacists can treat seven common health conditions such as sinusitis and ear-aches and supply prescription-only medications without patients needing to see a GP.
By making better use of professionals such as pharmacists, up to ten million GP appointments should be freed up meaning those who need to see a doctor can do so more quickly.
Pharmacy First will be supported by an investment of £645 million into pharmacies to help enable pharmacists to effectively utilise their medical skills. It is great to see that 95% of pharmacies have already opted-in to Pharmacy First, including 108 pharmacies across Lincolnshire.
