Last week, Gareth visited the new Gonerby Road Community Diagnostic Centre, just north of Grantham town centre. This fantastic facility will play a crucial role in ensuring local residents will be able to access services more quickly and easily, as well as being open 7 days a week. The centre focuses on diagnostic services and will play an important role in easing pressure on local hospital services, with capacity for x-rays and ultrasounds, as well as to support the delivery of treatments for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
The new centre in Grantham is one of forty that have been opened across the country, which are backed by Government investment of £350 million to provide around 2.8 million scans in their first full year of operation. For local residents, this means earlier diagnoses through easier, faster, and more direct access to the full range of requisite diagnostic tests, fewer hospital visits and reduced waiting times for patients, and, as a result, hospitals will have more resources available to focus on patients requiring urgent care as well.
