Gareth Davies MP spent time on International Beer Day visiting a number of local pubs, including The Crown Hotel in Stamford to meet owner Michael Thurlby and see the benefits of the Government’s latest alcohol duty reforms in action.
Gareth discussed the challenges that our local pubs have faced over the last few years through the pandemic and with high energy costs, the significant support provided by the Government, and the opportunities for pubs and the wider hospitality sector going forward.
Gareth said:
“It is important to be able to discuss these landmark duty reforms, aimed at supporting our pub sector, with local landlords, and it is always great to see pubs in our area busy serving some of our country’s finest food and drink.
The Government is doing all it can to support pubs, but to survive our pubs require continuous local custom and support so I encourage everyone to make time to visit their local over the summer.”
