Gareth Davies MP today visited Grantham Canal at the invitation of the Grantham Canal Society who showed him the work being done to restore the canal which first opened in 1797! While it closed in 1929 the society has been working since the 1960s to restore the canal and so today Gareth actually got to stand at the bottom of Lock 14 which is being completely rebuilt. The canal is a great part of our history and thanks to the restoration work, it can now be part of our future too.
