Gareth Davies MP today met with engineers and senior leaders from Openreach in Corby Glen, to hear more about their work rolling out faster broadband across Grantham, Bourne, Stamford and the surrounding villages.
He was joined by South Kesteven District Councillor Nick Robins and local Parish Councillor James Walsingham.
Engineers demonstrated how new fibre optic cable technology is connecting more households by enabling infrastructure to be upgraded more efficiently and with a smaller footprint.
Gareth also discussed progress being made to increase broadband speeds in the most rural areas, through dedicated national funding, community partnerships, and other innovative initiatives.
Since 2019, boosted by national policies such as the ‘super-deduction’ which incentivised investment, the availability of ultrafast Gigabit broadband has increased nationwide from 6% to almost 80%.
The UK is on track to reach the Government's target of 85% Gigabit coverage by 2025 and 100% by 2030.
