Gareth Davies MP met with National Highways last Friday to discuss the preliminary results from his ongoing A1 parliamentary survey, which has so far reached almost 25,000 people, and continue his push for further improvements to our section of the road.
As with other arterial roads across the country, National Highways are directly responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the A1 along its entire stretch, including locally from Grantham to Stamford.
In the call, Gareth continued to make the case for National Highways to look again at the future of the crossovers and the length of the slip roads, which were by far the two most raised issues identified through collating survey responses and in Gareth’s other discussions with constituents.
National Highways updated Gareth on the work they have performed to date, both to maintain and upgrade the road, including the over £4 million investment in the section of the road between Grantham and Stamford announced last year.
Overall, this section of the A1 has received significantly more funding per mile to repair barriers, resurface, remark, and improve drainage than almost any other road in the Midlands. Nevertheless, Gareth will continue to push for even greater funding into the future.
