Gareth met the Rt. Hon. Liam Fox MP this week to discuss his groundbreaking Down's Syndrome Bill, which the Government is supporting through Parliament.
Dr. Fox's Bill will require the Secretary of State to publish guidance to public bodies to ensure they are clear on how they should meet the needs of people with Down's Syndrome, and will set out best practice across health, education social care and housing, giving practical advice on how the appropriate steps can be taken to meet the needs of those with Down's syndrome when planning, designing and delivering services.
Gareth said:
"It's so important that people with Down's Syndrome - as well as their families and carers - are fully supported, and that we recognise that while most people with Down's Syndrome lead independent, happy, and active lives, they can face real challenges in every walk of life. That's why I'm delighted to support Dr. Fox's Bill, which will do so much for people with Down's Syndrome and everyone else in their lives."
