Gareth Davies MP today sat down with parish councillors from Greatford Parish Council to discuss the response to and recovery from the awful flooding experienced in Greatford and elsewhere in early January following Storm Henk.
Alongside part of Stamford, Bourne, and Tallington, Greatford was one of the places most heavily affected by the flooding, with 29 homes flooded and another 21 at least partially flooded. At the meeting, Gareth thanked the parish councillors for their hard work supporting local residents, both through the initial flooding and with their recovery.
Since Storm Henk, Gareth has continued to engage with local parish councils, local authorities, the Environment Agency (EA), Anglian Water and Government Ministers to ensure that those affected have access to the support they need. On behalf of Greatford Parish Council, Gareth has already written to the EA to share specific requests from local residents aimed at learning more about the cause of recent flooding and what can be done to improve future flood resilience.
In the coming weeks, Gareth is set to meet with the EA and will again raise the specific concerns shared with him by Greatford Parish Council on behalf of residents in the village.
In response to the storm, the Government announced significant support for households and businesses who experienced flooding, and Gareth continues to encourage anyone affected to explore what support they might be eligible for, which can be done so on the links below:
