Today, Gareth met with representatives from the East Midlands Ambulance Service to hear about the current challenges the ambulance service is facing and their operations across Lincolnshire.
Discussions centred around the extra pressures ambulances are experiencing due to Covid and EMAS' work to ensure that priority is given to those people who are most in need of life-saving care.
Sue Cousland, EMAS' divisional director for Lincolnshire reported that treatment rates have risen significantly as many more people are now attended to in their own homes, removing the need for the ambulance to take them to a hospital. Collaboration with RAF colleagues, and urgent care personnel has allowed the ambulance service to free up capacity in their systems, allowing vehicles and crews to rapidly respond to the most serious 999 calls.
