Gareth Davies MP this morning joined local children from a number of local schools at St Gilbert’s Church of England Primary School in Stamford to see one of the sixteen local Holiday Activity & Food (HAF) clubs in action!
Delivered by the excellent team at Inspire+, clubs just like this have supported thousands of local children eligible for benefit-related free school meals to access enriching activities and a hot, nutritious meal over the summer holiday.
Nationally, the £200 million a year of Government funding is dispersed to local authorities who are then responsible for the provision of HAF clubs in their areas. Last summer, the HAF programme reached around 600,000 children across England, including over 475,000 children eligible for free school meals.
In our area, Lincolnshire County Council have over £2.5 million available to them to organise local HAF clubs such as this one through providers such as Inspire+, with this year’s clubs taking place in multiple locations including in Grantham, Stamford, Bourne, and near Castle Bytham.

“It was wonderful to drop-in on one of our local HAF clubs and join local children taking part in activities from food tasting to orienteering, all wrapped up with a fulfilling meal. It's great to see the excellent and enthusiastic Inspire+ team in action and local children staying active over the summer!”
