Gareth Davies MP today met with the Countryside Alliance and National Rural Crime Unit in Parliament to discuss rural crime and their work to protect our villages and farmers. This came ahead of Rural Crime Action Week, which runs next week, from 21st-27th October.
In particular, they shared with Gareth the problems the police have returning recovered stolen tools and machinery to their rightful owners due to a lack of identification markings. Gareth also discussed wildlife crimes such as hare coursing, which the local Rural Crime Action Team have had significant success tackling in recent years.
Gareth said:
"Ahead of Rural Crime Action Week, it was good to meet with the Countryside Alliance and officers from the National Rural Crime Unit.
These crimes are unacceptable, from machinery and tool theft which can devastate local farmers and rural businesses to wildlife crimes such as hare coursing which can wreck agricultural land and harm the local environment we all cherish.
Alongside the excellent work of the Lincolnshire Rural Crime Action Team, I will continue to do what I can to protect our rural communities."
