Gareth Davies MP yesterday backed new legislation passed by the House of Commons to remove the current £250,000 cap on penalties handed out by environmental regulators, meaning that those who pollute our environment could face unlimited fines.
With a broader scope, these enhanced tools for regulators should help to enforce compliance in a range of sectors, including water, energy, and waste collection, keeping the local community cleaner as a result.
Gareth said:
“These new measures, with unlimited fines for the worst polluters, give environmental regulators the tools required to do their important work.
Our area is blessed with great natural beauty so I am proud to support measures to make sure that it is preserved and protected for all to enjoy.”
