Back local businesses

Thriving local businesses provide valuable jobs, products, and services for our local communities. I believe enterprise should be rewarded and cultivated, with confidence coming from economic stability and policies that lift obstacles to help firms get on, grow, and invest locally.

In the last Parliament I helped secure:

  • £5.5 million to revitalise Grantham’s High Street and £540,000 for rural businesses and communities.
  • Energy support packages to protect businesses.
  • A rise in the VAT threshold for small businesses, and the extension of 75% business rates relief for those in the retail, hospitality or leisure sectors.
  • 2,418 business loans worth more than £114.6 million during Covid.
  • 340 more businesses in the constituency than in 2019.

While the role of local shops and high streets has evolved over time, I want to do everything I can to make sure ours remains a hub of community activity which helps to make our towns and villages even more attractive places to live, work, and prosper.
